The vertical solar screen is a SolLine Stellar 900 perforated half aerofoil in 4000mm bays. The system is fully motorised within the BMS system.
Lux sensors in addition to the Wind Safety sensors are installed in key locations on the structure for optimum performance.
The Lunar 300 aerofoil provides additional solar protection to the structure long the top of the assembly. The Aerofoil blades are connected to existing structure by way of drill and tap connection through a Laser Profiled end plate detail.
The c1 Assemblies have been installed with an encoder within the system to allow for true alignment which the blades are controlled into a stop location.
Each Blade assembly has intermediate Laser profiled support plates for additional support whilst the system is in motion. This reduces any possible twisting of the system, particularly in higher winds.
The Linkage system of the perforated blades is controlled by external actuators controlling banks of the Solar Blades. Each system is installed with a service free assembly requiring no lubricants to ensure smooth operation.
All connection details are machined in 316L stainless steel for smooth rotation without any 'cranking' sounds.
The nature of this installation provides an environment between the façade and the solar screen. With the perforated blade sections this ensures that a percentage of natural light can enter through the assembly with minimum solar gain onto the glazed façade.
The BMS operation has been set to allow solar penetration through out winter months taking advantage of the natural lighting without increasing the requirement for plant cooling within the structure.
